Workshop Highlights | From Surface to Suspension: Adapting Adherent Cells to Microcarriers
Last month, we jointly organised the

The workshop brought together
lab officers, cell specialists, researchers, and scientists for a hands-on
learning experience focused on microcarrier-based adherent cell culture.
The session combined perspectives on current trends in the cell and gene
therapy landscape with practical training on transitioning from 2D flask
culture to scalable 3D microcarrier systems. Participants gained insights
into hMSC fundamentals, the adoption of animal componentโfree media, and
scalable adherent cell expansion, before applying these concepts through
guided laboratory sessions on cell seeding, attachment, growth optimisation,
and common microcarrier handling practices.
We would like to sincerely thank the trainers and facilitators from Sartorius
for sharing their expertise and for guiding participants throughout the
workshop, enabling meaningful learning and confident application in their
respective work and research environment.
