Profile
Dr. Benjamin Toh serves as the Executive Director of the Biomedical Research Council (BMRC) at A*STAR. In this capacity, he spearheads the implementation of A*STAR’s strategies and initiatives in therapeutics discovery and biomanufacturing, aiming to generate significant industry and societal impact while building long-term R&D capabilities for Singapore. Concurrently, Dr. Toh is the Programme Director of A*STAR’s Cell and Gene Therapy Flagship Programme, where his team collaborates closely with A*STAR’s Research Institutes and other public sector researchers to develop research programmes that address national and industry needs.
With over 15 years of experience in biomedical R&D, Dr. Toh has dedicated the majority of his career to R&D strategy and programme development. Previously, he was the Principal Business Analyst for Advanced MedTech, a MedTech company headquartered in Singapore, where he supported strategic business planning and business development. He also served as the Director of Strategic Planning at BMRC, leading the development and implementation of A*STAR’s Health and Biomedical Sciences strategic plans and corporate policies.
Dr. Toh earned his Doctor of Philosophy from the NUS Graduate School for Integrative Sciences and Engineering, focusing his research on cancer immunology and antibody discovery.
