A/Prof Aloysius Ho is a distinguished haematologist and leader in cellular therapy, with extensive expertise in malignant haematology, haematopoietic progenitor cell transplantation, and immune effector cell therapy. As the Executive Director of ACTRIS, he provides strategic leadership to position ACTRIS as a premier institute advancing cell therapy and translational research in Singapore and the region.
In addition to his role at ACTRIS, A/Prof Ho serves as the Medical Director of the Singapore Cord Blood Bank, and Senior Consultant at Singapore General Hospital and the National Cancer Centre Singapore. He is also the Director of Cell Transplant at the SingHealth Duke-NUS Transplant Centre and leads the Haematopoietic Cell Therapy and Transplant Programme.
A/Prof Ho’s contributions extend beyond clinical practice into laboratory quality management and research, with a strong focus on myelodysplastic syndromes, bone marrow failure syndromes, and acute myeloid leukaemia. His leadership in haematopoietic cell therapy and transplantation has significantly shaped the field, influencing patient care and clinical outcomes.
Academically, A/Prof Ho holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Adelaide and a Master of Medicine from the National University of Singapore. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (London) and the Royal College of Pathologists. His training at King’s College Hospital in London, where he later served as a Consultant Haematologist, laid the foundation for his expertise in transplantation and cellular therapy.
As he leads ACTRIS into its next phase, A/Prof Ho is dedicated to fostering cutting-edge research, strengthening clinical applications, and establishing sustainable models for cell therapy development. Through collaborations with healthcare clusters, academic institutions, industry partners, and regulatory bodies, he aims to drive ACTRIS toward becoming a national and regional Centre of Excellence for the discovery, process development, and manufacturing of cellular-based therapeutics.
